Elements of the Secretariat of the Navy-Navy of Mexico arrested David Cruz Hernández, a former firefighter from Iguala, alleged leader of a criminal cell of "Guerreros Unidos" and linked to the disappearance of 43 Ayotzinapa normal school students.
Cruz Hernández, also known as "Chino or Bombero", was a member of Civil Protection in Iguala and allegedly served as a "halcon" and hitman for the aforementioned criminal organization. He is accused of maintaining communication with others involved in the disappearance of the normalistas in 2014.
Victims and witnesses claim that Cruz Hernández was driving a truck used in the attack on the students and their alleged disappearance. For these events, he had an arrest warrant for enforced disappearance in Guerrero, which will be executed shortly.
According to investigations, Cruz Hernández also served as a trusted personnel and bodyguard for Gonzalo Martín Souza Neves, alias "El Uruguayo", leader of "Guerreros Unidos" with convictions in the United States for drug trafficking.
After several years as a fugitive, he was arrested in Xochimilco, where he was engaged in drug dealing. At the time of his capture, a firearm, methamphetamine, marijuana, and two mobile phones were confiscated from him. Different security forces of the country collaborated for this operation.
